HARD ROCK CAFE TO PURCHASE TRUMP TAJ MAHAL
AND OPEN HARD ROCK HOTEL & CASINO

When it became clear that billionaire Carl Icahn would be interested in selling his Trump Taj Mahal Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, Greenberg Traurig’s client Hard Rock International quickly reached out according to Daily Business Review.

“This is the first significant investment in Atlantic City by a new casino operator and it has provided Atlantic City with a boost that I don’t believe it has had before,” said Greenberg Traurig shareholder Lorne Cantor…”It’s a big boost for the region and it’s a great sign that Hard Rock has confidence in the market. They also believe that they are bringing a new and exciting concept to Atlantic City and they will be able to excite the market.”

With the Trump brand completely removed, the property will be renamed the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City. In addition to a completely redesigned interior, entry and layout, the cafe will have an improved stage with beach access. Meeting space will accommodate conventions and events of different sizes. The renovations are projected to create 1,000 construction jobs and up to 3,000 jobs when it reopens in 2018.

BEER GARDEN PROPOSED
FOR SITE JUST OFF BOARDWALK

According to THE PRESS ATLANTIC CITY, a developer is hoping to turn a site just off the Boardwalk, between South California and South Iowa avenues, into a beer garden.

A proposal by Dectrinity LLC calls for the construction of an open-air restaurant and bar called “Bungalow Biergarten.” The project would include seating for 322 guests, an outdoor kitchen area and two bars.

If approved, the project would also feature three propane fire pits and a game area, according to the application to the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority.

Under the plan, the property would have four distressed wood shipping containers for dry storage, walk-in refrigeration, kitchen area and restrooms.

Since it would be located in the Tourism District, the CRDA has to approve it. The district includes the entire Boardwalk, the Marina District, Gardner’s Basin and 10 roads that lead into the district, including several on the city’s northern end. The rest of the city is under city zoning jurisdiction.

Parking for the property would be available at an adjacent lot, according to the company’s application.
